How To Prepare Your Small Business for the Holiday Season

Christmas is two just weeks away.  For most online shops, this is the busiest time of the year.  Are you thriving?  Or just surviving?

Make sure your customers know the final date to order product in time for Christmas arrival.  For shops that carry made-to-order items, this date has probably passed.  The next few days are likely a safe cut off for ready to ship items.  Make your customers aware.  Post it in your Facebook groups, on your Instagram, through text marketing, and in emails.

Raise your hand if you have been receiving “Where is my package” emails from your customers!

Unfortunately, there are universal delays with USPS, and bottlenecks in certain areas of the country.  Packages that get scanned as “delivered” before they actually are, are not helpful either. The postal service has certain parameters before a package can be reported lost.  You can direct your customers here for more info.

Pro tip: Add the Route app to your Shopify site.  They are an optional purchase insurance that customers can add at check out. If their package gets lost, damaged, or stolen, the claim gets filed through Route, and they take care of it.  The best part?  It’s free for you!

Take this time to look ahead at next year.  What changes can you make in the next 12 months for an even more profitable Christmas season?  How can I help you to thrive?
